It’s here! Just in time for the holidays, we proudly present A Coloring Book for Knitters.
When we started seeing coloring books being marketed as a stress-relieving pastime for adults, our first thought was: why don’t people just learn how to knit?
But we see how much fun adults are having with coloring books, and we had a second thought: why aren’t there coloring books for knitters?
A quick search revealed a shocking gap in adult coloring book literature that needed to be filled, as soon as humanly possible.
Coloring and knitting are a natural fit. Knitting is the perfect package of color, pattern and texture. There ought to be a coloring book for knitters, we thought, and it ought to be amazing.
We took our idea to Juliana Horner, a Nashville illustrator whose background in fashion design and textiles makes her fluent in the visual language of knitting. Soon after Juliana started working, our phones started lighting up with texted images from her.
Out of Juliana’s fertile imagination came cables and mittens and sweaters and hats, tiny dogs and sulky cats, pigtails and alpacas in bed, Lopi sweaters and one tangled thread. It’s a world where pretty much anything can be made out of stockinette. And yes—Keira Knightley’s cardigan from The Imitation Game is there, ready to color with whatever wacky colors you like.
Coloring a knitting pattern can soothe jangled nerves, and it can also inspire your knitting. You can experiment with color combinations for Fair Isle, stripes or log cabin—without all that pesky swatching. Coloring gives you the freedom to play with all the colors, without worrying if they will go with your black pants.
You can get your Latvian mitten game on, all day long. Latvians wish they had a coloring book like this. Now, at long last, they do!
Order up a copy for yourself, for your knitter friend, for your adult colorist in need of a new fix. Makes a perfect hostess gift, stocking stuffer, teacher gift, procrastination aid, bar mitzvah present. Sweeten up an anniversary, bribe a co-worker, whack a bug—whatever you need, A Coloring Book for Knitters can make life just that much better.
We hope it makes you laugh and reach for your markers. Our field-testing of these drawings has shown us how instantly addicting this coloring business is.
We’d love to see your colored-in images on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter.
