Glad and a Little Sad
October 13, 2010
What a hoot! Readers were very generous with clever and silly suggestions of Halloween getups for Olive. I now have a master list to draw from, and knit from, in years to come. Olive, who seems to enjoy Apparel, and being the subject of fussing, will not greet trick or treaters in her birthday suit.
The winner of the drawing for the stack o’ books is Lou H., whom I’ve emailed. Congrats, Lou! Try not to throw your elbow out with that case of the cast-ons you are about to get.
The winner was chosen at random, but my favorite costume suggestions were Miss Matty Jenkyns from Cranford (scroll down for riveting comments by Dame Judi Dench about the production’s period mittens), or as Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle.
Pretty much the same costume, and Olive would require no method acting classes for either role.
DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR BLANKIE IS?
OK, it’s not the tragedy of the week or anything, but I found a handknit baby blanket on the ground this morning. I initially tsked about it and kept walking. Then I trudged back and got it, and showed it around to stroller-pushers in the vicinity, to no avail. Although it’s a very small, very simple blanket–a few hours of knitting–it’s some baby’s stroller blankie. It surely will be missed, and –unless the mom knit it herself–there is going to be some awkward ‘splaining about What Happened To That Blanket. What a shame!
Then I realized, hey! We write a blog! About knitting! It is possible–just possible–that this blanket was knitted by a knitter who reads knitting blogs! If so, we can do a public service! We can reunite baby and blankie! Here are the details:
WHEN: Wednesday, October 13, 9:30ish a.m.
WHERE: Central Park
FOUND: 1 handknit baby blanket, as shown
“C’mon, Lassie! Find the baby!”
If you are the owner, or know the owner, email me. Save the knitting!
