WorldWide KIP Day
June 11, 2010
I’m usually not organized enough to remember when World Wide Knit In Public Day is. I always read about it after it’s over, and figure I do my fair share of KIPing without anybody telling me to. This year, though, it’s not just one day, but an entire 8 days of KIPing, commencing tomorrow, June 12.
While it would be fun to go to one of the organized events (lots of which are listed here, it would also be a hoot if we all just made a point of sitting in a public place, like the mall, the library, or the park, and knitting. If people see one knitter on the bus, it’s a shrug. But if they keep seeing knitters as they go about their day, they might wonder what is happening and whether they missed the memo. A little spooky–kind of like The Birds, except we won’t all land on Tippi Hedren and peck at her or anything.
Readers who KIP during this period, let us know if anybody walks up to you and says, “You’re the fifth person I’ve seen knitting today–what is going on?”
Please post your suggested answers to this question in the comments. (There may be prizes.) (The prizes may be books.) (The deadline might be Sunday at noon.)
“Are you talkin’ to me?”
