Just sticking my head in the door here to let you know that I'm still here, sitting here. Word 70,000 of the movel is "horrified."
There's a baby on the way (not mine, to be clear and wouldn't THAT be some news?). It is so tremendously exciting that I ditched my tortured cabled pullover thingie for a project so tiny and cute that I really, really find myself liking this knitting thing all over again.
The pattern is Kim Hargreaves's Lucky
, from that ancient, parchment folio known as Pipsqueaks, from Rowan. "Moss stitch on babies" ought to be in a Sound of Music song, you know? The yarn is Misti Alpaca, shade 1100, a blue with a lot of action going on in there.
Thanksgiving came and went in a really, really great blur. Having two nieces under the age of 5 in the house was the sort of thing I recommend for anybody who wants to spend a lot of time building fairy houses. The amount of fairy mythology that was explained to me! "Fairies need parking places for their cars, but they don't really drive too much." This fairy house is still outside my office window, where the squirrels seem sort of interested in it.
And finally, a Thanksgiving night flip book for you. Please note that the Big Dotty Piano Bench Cushion from our first book
withstands the hurricane-force cuteness of three girls clambering up for a song.
