fundraiser
Dear Ann,
Another so-called Black Friday rears its unpleasant head. Don't get me wrong, I like shopping--if US capitalism goes under, it won't be because I didn't do my part. But I don't intend to drag myself to a mall on a day I could spend knitting in my pajamas and asking passing loved ones to get me another cup of coffee. Capitalism can just keep its shirt on and wait for my kids to go back to school.

Have you seen
Juniper Moon Farm's little wooden sheep and alpaca? Have you seen
the sweaters that Susan B. Anderson knitted for her own little flock?

(Photos by Susan B. Anderson.)
A portion of the profits from the sale of the animals will go to Juniper Moon Farm's annual fundraiser for
Heifer International, charity that fights hunger and poverty by donating food and fiber animals to families. This year Juniper Moon Farm's goal is to raise $5000, and Susan's delightful sweaters seem sure to get them there. (They are real sweaters, knitted in the round up to the front leg opening. My favorite line in the pattern notes: "You will be sewing your animal into the sweater.")
All the details--how to buy the animals, and the free sweater pattern for each little guy-- are on
Susan's blog.
You can do all of this in your pajamas.
Love,
Kay
