Eye Openers, and Contest Winner
June 7, 2010
OK. It’s Monday. It’s the last week of school here, always a Sheer Hell/Level 5 week. Suddenly, certain people are doing extra credit math homework. The effort not to roll the maternal eyes back in the maternal head, or indulge in gentle maternal sarcasm which is hardly ever taken the right way–go figure- is heroic. Heroic, I tell you. I need extra caffeine, or some stimulus to wake me up, to give me FOCUS. Hmmmm [rummages around inbox}, how about this:
(Should I have given a “not safe for work” warning with that?) (Really?)
I strongly suspect that the unnamed designer is Craig Ferguson. Or Richard Simmons.
This one is more my aesthetic speed:
(I am tempted to order a half yard just to see if the selvedge reads, “Is that for me?”)
Hey–the colorway is straight out of the Civil War reproduction palette, and there’s barely a hint of knee. It’s downright tasteful, dammit. Liberty of London, watch your back.
(To see more fabrics in this range, and to prove that I’m not making this up, go here. See? Told ya.)
We have a winner in the Really Wild Tea Cosies book giveaway: Congratulations, Jill B! (I sent you an email.) Everyone else, thank you for entering. You are going to have to either get your own copy of Really Wild Tea Cosies, or settle for a Sort of Tame Tea Cozy. I know which I’d do.
Need a Spa Day?
While we’re spanning the globe, I don’t want you to miss this video from my lovely junket to Massachusetts in May. Signing books, or a particularly gentle form of yoga? You decide.
I had nothing to do with this but I can’t stop watching it and laughing. Thank you, Newbury Yarns, for the lovely Sunday afternoon, and also for the video.
What I’m Knitting
I’m putting the i-cord edging on my most recent Grace Anna Farrow shawl, Dawn from The Fine Line. By “putting the i-cord edging on,” I mean that I am not putting the i-cord edging on. Waiting for a shipment of i-cord mojo to arrive, preferably via a UPS man wearing sensible shoes.
