I like to keep up on current events. I also hate to keep up on current events. It’s stressful! We are living in anxious times. The urge to burrow into the sand (aka knit blankets while watching an endless loop of episodes of The Crown) is strong.
There’s a new podcast that somehow makes me feel better, while also feeling more informed. It’s Stay Tuned with Preet, an interview and issues show hosted by Preet Bharara, a New Yorker best known for his recent service as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
I like Preet’s calm tone, voice, analytical ability and sense of humor. (Disclaimer: a lawyerly manner is deeply soothing to me.) Preet’s on-air persona enables me to listen to people I may not agree with, to hear what they have to say before jumping ahead to my emotional response.
Somehow, this podcast makes me feel more optimistic.
Start with the most recent episode, in which Preet’s guest is New York Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman. So far all of the episodes I’ve listened to have been interesting.
