It is Sunday. In the Jewish world, we would say that this particular Sunday is Erev Bang Out A Sweater, or Bang Out a Sweater Eve. Are you ready? Is everybody ready? Yarned up? Swatched up? Fired up?
If you’re waiting for yarn (and I think you are, Ann, you plutoloopy freak), don’t worry about tomorrow being cast-on day for our Bang Out a Sweater knitalong. It’s a fast sweater–that’s the whole idea. You can catch up.
I’m going to cast on my Stopover sweater on February 1, at midnight NYC time. On Periscope. If you’re up that late, please drop by Periscope, and send me some encouraging hearts, and questions and comments. (It’ll only take about 5 minutes, so don’t be late.) Hashtag: excited.
I’m going to say this out loud: I hope to have a finished Stopover sweater by this time next week.
I know we’re kind of naggy about trying to get people to get on Instagram, but please, people: get on Instagram. The hashtag #BangOutASweater is full of delights, and Instagram is a perfect way to share preparation and progress on your sweater.
On Lazy Sunday, we like to share a film, podcast, audiobook, or other entertainment to accompany a beautiful Sunday of knitting.
Today, we share a home movie about an upcoming book that we love: Knitlandia, by Clara Parkes.
OK, it’s kind of a wacky video.
Fittingly for a travel book, we made our video on Concourse B of Midway Airport in Chicago. I’m sure Clara has passed through there many a time on the travels she writes about in Knitlandia.
The book will be released on February 16. It’s a good one. Clara is a hardy traveler. She has been to knitting events around the world, captured their essence, and shared it in this book. It’s a gift to knitters.
