  • what an awesome idea. I’m in.

  • Me too !

  • I didn’t know of Whip Up until your post about Kathreen’s death so I can’t really participate. But – I checked out her quilt book on Amazon and bought it and I hope that will help her kids just a little bit.

  • Thanks for doing this. I’ve had email exchanges over the years with Kathreen, and she did a lovely review of Wearwithall only a few months ago. So so sad.

  • Thanks so much for doing this–and for introducing me to Whipup way back when. I’ve been a regular reader ever since. So strange to see the little ritual of visiting favorite blogs turn sad and bereft. I hope someday their children will understand how special a thing it was have built a community like this.

  • I didn’t know Whip Up but I did go to PayPal and made a donation. Like another commenter noted, I’ve also checked out her books and hope to add some to my collection, as well.
Thank you for getting the word out. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and their friends.

  • Hi Kay and Ann – I’m in too! I didn’t hear about this til 2 days ago and I am just so devastated and sad.
I’ve already donated but I will post for you and try to get my readers to donate as well. My heart is so broken for those two beautiful children and the extended family.
    Hugs –
    Kristin

  • I thought a lot about this, and really, it is impossible to pick one favorite post – although I will give an example and probably a novella-length comment:

This is a follow-up to Kathreen’s first post on mending, which was a typical list of marvelous links, under a few pictures of sewing that took me right back to one particular pair of patched and embroidered and mended jeans I wore in the 70’s that drove my parents INSANE. I loved those jeans, and when I saw Kathreen’s post, I thought, why don’t I do that anymore? When did repairing clothing become a dreaded chore instead of an interesting opportunity?
I’m posting the link to Kathreen’s follow-up because it leads, in turn, to some wonderful sock-darning. And on and on.
For years, I’ve saved new WhipUp posts for weekend mornings when I could wander at will and at length, moving further and further from whatever I had been planning to do that day, and closer and closer to something I just might do, that day, or someday, maybe even in this lifetime. Kathreen provided maps and signposts and inspiration to so many, all the while so clearly enjoying her own adventure. What a way to live.

  • OK, my post is up!

  • My post is up too. Thanks for the lead Kay and Ann! I wanted to do this and you pushed me over the edge! Have a nice weekend you two!
