Melanie Falick has given the world of craft some of its most beloved books. As both a writer and an editor, she has a rare, broad view of bookmaking. We are proud and delighted to be working with her as editor and creative director of the Mason-Dixon Knitting Field Guides.
Her new book, Making a Life: Working by Hand and Discovering the Life You Are Meant to Live, has just been named one of the 100 Best Books of 2019 by Publishers Weekly.
She is a writer, editor, and consultant for independent and traditional publishers. From 2003 to 2015, she was the publishing director of STC Craft/Melanie Falick Books, an imprint of Abrams, proudly working with a broad range of extraordinary authors (including Kaffe Fassett, Clara Parkes, Joelle Hoverson, Norah Gaughan, Lotta Jansdotter, and Natalie Chanin).
Prior to that she was the editor-in-chief of Interweave Knits magazine. She is the author of Knitting in America, Kids Knitting, Weekend Knitting, Knit: A Personal Handbook, and Handknit Holidays, and co-author with Kristin Nicholas of Knitting for Baby, with over 400,000 books in print.
