I don’t know whether Friday the 13th is an auspicious day to turn in a manuscript, but that’s what Kay and I did this afternoon. Gone gone gone! Whatever it is, it’s Over There now. High five!
After clicking the Send button, I flopped down on the ground like Roger Federer winning Wimbledon, cried like a baby bluebird, and immediately went outside for the first time in two days. And as I wandered around the Assembly, looking at all the good people sitting on their porches doing absolutely nothing, I felt like I’d just come off submarine duty. It’s so GREEN out here! It smells so NATURAL!
Many times over the past month I have been wishing to post here, but I really couldn’t get it together. I haven’t posted a blog entry in about a month, which is the longest I’ve gone without a blab.
Anyway. I hope everybody likes the book. It’s still a long way off–fall ’08 seems ridiculously distant. Will ever be out? Will we live that long?
Even if I haven’t been blogging, I’ve been THINKING about blogging, DREAMING about blogging, FANTASIZING about blogging, so I’ll be posting more often in the coming weeks. And I am relishing the prospect of knitting something for the absolute recreational value of it.
One incredible irony is that here in Monteagle, despite knitting in a demented way for the past two months, I have on hand a shockingly low amount of yarn. See?
Far from home, separated from my beloved stash, that’s the inventory. The highlight of this little collection is that cake of brilliant yellow hand-dyed fingering-weight yarn from Cristina, who dyed it with weld. Must figure out what to do with that.
It’s like my friend Frannie the architect says: the most creative work comes when you have a lot of constraints. Welllllll, we’ll just see about THAT.
PS Many thanks for the notes of encouragement, concern, and dismay at the situation around here. The polite question “Is this still a blog?” raised existential questions I will be chewing on for a long time. I’m trying to catch up on my correspondence. We’ll sweep out the cobwebs and get going again soon.
